Being a single mother is a huge responsibility. You are the sole caretaker of the future of you and the future of this great country. We understand that your days are full and by night fall the exhaustion sets in. you are too tired to search all over for answers to questions concerning Health, Education or even welfare. The purpose of this article is to arm you with as much of this information as possible so that you can take advantage of some of the unique opportunities that are available for single mothers. We aim to share with you quality information and great contacts to speed up your search for that job, scholarship or assistance program that you will need to enhance your present and create a better future for you and the ones you are caring for. All information in this article is current and the links are all live so you can reach the purveyors of these valuable offerings right away without leaving this site. In this article, we’ll look at some of the various scholarships and grants that a single mother might apply for.

Web-Sweepstakes

Note, if you are looking for a quick and easy scholarship to apply for that’s not GPA based, we recommend looking at the web sweepstake giveaway Scholarship 4 Working Adults. But this is certainly not the ONLY scholarship out there. In fact, there are literally thousands of different scholarships you can round up. However, you’ll likely be limited to a handful, based on your area of study and your GPA. It’s worth spending the time apply for scholarships, however, as you can really reduce your dependency on student loans.

One question I get asked quite often by students is “What’s the difference between scholarships and grants?”

Grants

Based on financial need not merit

Federal grants, institutional grants, and private grants

Non repayable

Available for wide range of interests such as business, education, and community

Scholarships

Merit based

Comes from institutions (colleges), businesses, or organizations

Non repayable

Varying repayment benefits

Almost always educational in nature

Grants for Single Mothers

Grants are gifts of goods, services or cash that you will never have to worry about paying back. In some cases these grants are even tax-free. The United States government has 26 different grant making agencies and there are thousands of organizations across the country that offer even more opportunities. Here is a list of a few of the most popular ones. Mind you the application process is usually a long one and though nothing comes with a guarantee of approval as a single mother you are do fit into several of the prime categories for recipients of these grants.

Pell Grant: The Pell grant is given for education al pursuits. The application is free and available from any educational institution. This includes online schools as well as the local Jr. College. Filing a Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application is the first step to getting any other federal grants for education. You must first qualify for this one and after that the others are a little easier to qualify for. The grant is based on need and the offering is between $400.00 and $5,350 for eligible recipients. Filing for the FHFSA should be done as soon as the New Year is in as possible for the fall term.

ACG the Academic Competitive Grant: The ACG is available to college students during the freshmen and sophomore year. The grant is awarded based on merit to students who have performed at certain GPA levels in high school. The freshman gets $750.00 and in the sophomore year is awarded $1300.00. This is one of those that you must have already been approved for the Pell grant to receive.

The Federal Student Education Opportunity Grant: This grant, commonly referred to as the FSEOG is also awarded based on the needs of the applicant. The grant is designed for students with the greatest needs and can range from $100.00 to $4000.00. It to can be applied for at the same time as the FAFSA grant.

// ]]>

State Grants: The problem with this type of article is that it is would take hundreds of pages to cover all of the states and the grants that they offer. There are a few websites online that do offer state grant searches. You can also just do a google search for your state’s grant funding — if any. For example, New York State Residents can get up to $5000.00 through a program called (TAP) Tuition Assistance Program. The state of Kansas awards from $100.00-$1100 to eligible residents through the Kansas Comprehensive Grants program. New Mexico Student Incentive Grant awards $200.00 and $2500 every year to residents.

Many private organizations both locally and state wide offer grant programs the Admissions Financial aids offices at the school you are planning to attend should have a listing of who these area and how to apply. A lot of employers offer tuition reimbursement programs you can investigate this possibility by talking to a human resource worker at your place of employment.

Scholarships

Scholarships are almost always based on your academic performance. They also change quite often. The best way of getting a scholarship is visit your local college financial aid office. You should be able to obtain an up-to-date list of various scholarship programs that you can apply for. The requirements for each scholarship will vary. You might find scholarships that contain extra requirements besides grades. For example, you may find scholarships offered to minority groups, gender (single mom scholarships, for example), religion, etc.

Web-based Sweepstake Scholarships: There are also a variety of sweepstake scholarships you can apply for. You simply fill out a 5 minute form and get entered into a monthly draw for $10,000. The money, if you win, can be used for any educational expenses you might have. I’ve compiled a list of 6 different web scholarships you can apply for:

Scholarship 4 Working Adults

10k Scholarship for Moms

$10k Scholarship Zone

$10k Scholarship for Dads

10k Scholarship for School

General Scholarships: You can find various scholarships online to apply for. As stated, this might be given on the basis of gender, religion, school year you are in (upper or lower level studies), subject field (biology, law, computer science scholarships, etc), and so on.

How do you find any of these? You might find a general scholarship search site such as Scholarships.com helpful. Personally, my favorite way to find and apply for scholarships is through the federal student website scholarship search here: http://studentaid2.ed.gov/getmoney/scholarship/v3browse.asp

Financial Aid and Child Care

One of the reasons a lot of single mothers give for not working or going back to school is lack of childcare. The government has heard of this need and they have a few programs that can help you finance the high cost of childcare as well as the other programs for financial aid. In our society today a lot of Single Mothers are unfortunately teens who have not even finished their high school education. There are a some Federal, State and Local programs that are designed to help all Single mothers pursue their education or return to the workforce.

Your local Aid to Families with Dependent Children can assist you with your childcare needs. The following website will also point you to agencies in your area that offer childcare assistance http://www.childcare.gov/. You will find various links on this site to all types of information including how to start your on business. This blog is one of the best online resources for finding childcare: http://www.whattoexpect.com/forums/single-moms/topic/child-care-assistance

There are some websites that will offer you free stuff if you are a mother. FamilyPlanning.com is one such. If you sign up for their free membership, you have access to free baby stuff, grocery coupons, and parenting articles — quite useful.

Here you can find moms just like you who are searching for the same information and the ones who find great information are more than willing to share it. It doesn’t matter what state you live in you just say where you are and what you are seeking and chances are great someone has been there, done that and can offer you valuable insight into not only where to go but the process involved as well. Another such web site is http://www.singlemothergrants.net/government-daycare-assistance-for-single-moms.html

This site offers links to other sites that offer grants for single mothers for education and childcare. President Barack Obama has set aside monies to help Single mothers interested in going to college to actually do so and have the childcare necessary so that they can study without stress. You can apply for this program if you live in the State of Georgia at www.compass.ga.gov. The site takes you step by step through the process including eligibility assessment. Sure getting back to the work or school will take a lot of time and effort on your part. There is help available to those willing to seek it out and put in the time. You have to be willing to do whatever is necessary to get the education that will make your future a brighter place.

All states have a form of the Aid for families program in the state of Florida you may apply for most assistance programs online by clicking on this link http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/ess/tanf.shtml. for other states it as easy as Googling a keyword search for Depart of children and families include your state name and you will be directed to the pages.

Employment While at School

It is important to realize that the economic crisis this country is now in does not leave much room for optimism on the employment front. The lines at Job Fairs and the employment offices are getting longer as days go by. There are thousands of qualified candidates for every one job opening announced. Even college graduates are not finding employment hard to find.

Freelancing

Freelance writing and other jobs are open for bidding on several websites. RealWritingJobs.com,oDesk, GoFreelance.com and other similar websites offer you the flexibility to set your own hours and stay home with your precious little ones. You can sign up on these sites and immediately begin bidding on work projects. Most of the work revolves around article writing. That is, you write content for web masters or companies who need that content for their we sites. You don’t have to be an amazing writer, but simply competent and fluent at English — if you are a college or university student (or have even only graduated from high school), you should have no problems doing the work.

Survey Filling

This is another job that’s cropped up the past couple years. It’s not a glorious job — you spend your time filling out surveys for companies that will pay you per each filled out — but it can bring in some part time income to help pay for school.

Web Design

It’s possible to learn how to become a web designer. This is not just some skill you pick up on the weekend, however. If you are willing to self learn or even take a web-based course for a few months, you can make a part time income as a web designer. And you can work from home.

There are also more than just writing gigs available. You may find work in a variety fields such as writing, programming, web design, blog posting, advertising, marketing and many many more.

You can also sign up for online employment agencies such as and jobs.com, hotjobs.com to name a few. It may also be worth the effort to apply with local “Temporary Employment” agencies. A lot of companies are doing their hiring through temp agencies now a days. This way they get to “test drive” the potential employee before investing in them. Temporary jobs are an excellent source of income and most often lead to full time employment for the right candidates. Agencies like Manpower, Adecco, Kelly services and others are listed online and in the Yellow Pages of your local telephone books. If you want even more information about scholarships for single moms, grants, and financial help, consider looking at singlemotherassistance.net.

You may have heard that when you become a single parent, it’s the most difficult thing a human can experience. And it’s true: all those worries, pressures and stress can add up big time. Many single moms, to escape the financial problems most single parents do experience, seek to get an education. To pay for college though, it’s important to get scholarship help.

As a single parent you will need to be aware of the help that is on offer, more so than another person because you are fighting your fight alone. If you have no idea then you are in trouble and it could be a matter of time until you start to upset and affect the things that are most important in your life.

Financial worry is just a single area that can be addressed but there are other avenues of help you should consider trying if things start to get a bit too much. Never forget that there are hundreds of groups and organizations that were established to give you a helping hand and somewhere to seek advice during the harshest of times.

When it comes to financial help resources, you have a couple options. You can look to see what sort of government help programs are out there or you can look to see what sort of private assistance is available. In reality, to pay for school, you are going to probably have to combine government help and private help.

Private scholarships are a pretty big source of funding. There are organizations that specifically give out scholarship to the needy; other organizations give out scholarships based on merit. There are even some contest based scholarships given out by private companies that you can apply for. One such program to look at that’s designed just for single moms in need is the new 10k Scholarships for Moms. This is basically a giveaway scholarship — each month, 1 mother is given $10,000 towards school. Considering that it takes 5 minutes to fill out the free application, it’s well worth your time. This is only one example of some of the scholarship programs out there you can find. You can, for example, get scholarships like the 10k Scholarship for Dads, which works the same way but for dads. For more scholarship ideas, you should visit your local college’s financial aid office and get a list of the scholarships you can apply for. You can also check out a scholarship finding website such as scholarships.com, though you need to be careful since not all the programs listed are legit.

In terms of government help, you absolutely want to apply for federal student aid. You fill out the FAFSA financial aid application to start the process. If you qualify for aid, you may be given access to federal student loans and various grant programs. You may even be required to fill out the FAFSA to qualify for school scholarships and grants and even some private ones. So make sure you fill it out.

Now here are some general tips for managing your life with kids when you need help:

1. Never be afraid to ask for help — The help is what it is there for. Take advantage of your local community because a community is after all, people sticking together and helping each other out. These will be the people who know you best and have watched you most closely in your role as a single parent, they will be able to tell you precisely what they think you may be doing wrong. Friends are also there, they are your friends and what harm will asking for help do to your relationship with them?

2. Stay happy at all times around your child — Children will attach themselves directly to the surrounding environment and the people in that environment. If the only thing they know is worry and stress, which you display, then they will associate the home and you with this. It is incredibly important to shed this sort of environment as quickly as you can.

So there you go, some basic information on getting scholarship help for single moms. You can, of course, find more single mother scholarship information by simply looking at the government’s website or any college financial aid website.

A lot of single mothers may have had their lives interrupted by the gift of having a child. This will always be a wonderful and important part of life but the point is that it can disrupt your education dreams. You may have particular courses or a degree that you have never had the chance to finish or start and it is very easy to let the issue pass. Pell grants for single mothers are your way back in.
The educational system is always open and ready to take you back in. It is becoming an increasingly desirable thing to go back to college and university and study as a mature student. Institutions will always encourage you and there are many courses that are designed to work around your specific life as a single mother.

This article will take a specific look at pell grants that are available to single mothers. These grants do not have to be paid back and will often cover the costs of education fees and resources. Knowing about them and how to apply for them is the first step on the path back to fulfilling your on and off career.

A National Pell Grant is a grant to cover the cost of tuition. Institutions are legally entitled to charge certain amounts of money for you to study on a variety of courses. The levels of teaching are often very high and with competition for places fiercer than it has ever been, it is a mainstream way for a university or college to make money.

A lot of single mothers are put off by the cost of going back into education. You may be thinking that the money you would have to spend would be better off raising your child but the point is that if you apply successfully then you will not have to pay a penny of the tuition fees yourself. Pell grants will commonly release fees of around $400 to $4,300 upon a successful application and this may well be a sum of money that you yourself cannot readily get your hands on.

The first step in applying for a pell grant will be to fill out a FAFSA form. This is a standard form that is used in the distribution of Federal Aid. Be advised that you will have to be very precise with this form and even the smallest of errors could cause in a hold up for the application. The form is designed to help you and the only reason it is so vigorous is to prevent fraud. Admissions officers will review the form with you and will offer advice on alternative courses of action.

Stop thinking about what may have been and start thinking about what will be. Pell grants for single mothers are there to increase your standard of education and eventually your standard of living. Do not be put off at any point and if you are confused then remember that people are being paid to help you.

Today’s video talks about where to find and how to actually apply for scholarships money.

Life as a single mother will be extremely challenging, both mentally and physically. You will often find yourself will a million jobs to do on a given day and making sure your child is safe and happy can sometimes raise your stress levels. Daycare help for single mothers is designed so that you can leave your child and not have to worry about their safety or well being while you go to work or complete some other jobs.

The critics that say day care is a lifeline for lazy parents are totally wrong. Day care offers your child a fun environment to grow up in and they will also have the chance to learn things at a very early stage in their mental development. Your child will also benefit from the fact that they will be around other children of a similar age, which will provide them with a unique interacting experience that you as a single mother will not be able to give them.

This article will focus on day care for single mothers and look at some of the benefits and help you can get as a single mother. It is important to remember that the best day care programs do not come on the cheap, but do not be put off by this, there are many bodies who can help you financially to cover a number of areas.

For single mothers on a very low income there are grants available that will allow you to pay for day care. The government will commission these based on proof of income and circumstance. Some will even be offered on the condition that you are employed and earning money while your child is having fun and learning in the earliest stages.

This should excite you and make you want to develop your independence all over again. Day care can give you the chance to study or revitalise any career aspirations that you may have once had. You do not have to worry about who you are leaving your children with either because the government makes sure that the people working at day care facilities are thoroughly checked out before they are employed to make sure they do not have a dark or worrying criminal background or history.

You should talk to a social worker about something called the Head Start Program. This is a day care option that will allow your child to interact and learn before they go onto the first stages of school. It will often cost more because of the extra services but the benefits of learning at an early age have been proven to lead to later success.

Daycare help for single mothers is designed to make your job as a single mother a lot easier. The common worry for single mothers will be leaving the child alone for a long time, away from the environment that up until now you have let the child develop in.

College aid for single mothers is required to create educational opportunities and provide funding for single moms. Assistance for single mothers is available through federal and state funding bodies as well as direct financial assistance form a college or university. With over $91 billion a year granted by the US Department of Education, it is an easy task to find financial assistance for single moms.

The US Department of Education reports that over $91 billion dollars in financial aid is granted every year to over 15 million students, including financial aid for single mothers. Seventy-five percent of undergraduate students receive financial aid, and fifty percent of graduate students receive grants for their post-secondary education from Federal grants. Ninety-one percent of undergraduate students earning less than $32,000 a year receive federal grants. With these numbers it is easy to see that if you are persistent you will also be able to access college aid for single mothers.

Most Federal higher education grants can be accessed by using the FAFSA form, which is the application system for this type of financial aid. You can also consult a financial aid advisor or a student financial consultant for single moms to get pertinent advice for your situation. One such option is at the John Hopkins University which has over 40 consultants and processes over $65 million dollars in financial aid.

There are many other grants provided by the government as financial aid for single moms such as the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant, the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), the Academic Competitiveness Grant and institutional grants. For loans you can also contact Stafford Loans (FFELs and Direct Loans).

There are also non-profit private organizations whose sole purpose is to help people advance their education and get better jobs. Each state has many such institutions with similar general guidelines but some do have more specific criteria therefore it would be wise to check beforehand with each organization to establish whether or not you qualify. If you do not, you can still place a call as they may be able to guide you to an organization better suited to your particular circumstances. Such agencies are founded especially to help people so don’t worry about calling up as these are wonderful people who have dedicated themselves to helping others.

On the other hand, you should be wary because as a single mom it can be easy to fall for different scams, so you shouldn’t trust everyone. Try to keep a level head and work only with respected and accredited institutions. Colleges and universities are the best places to get advice and consultations. You should try and do your homework before going to any institution for help so that you are eligible for any programs they offer.

College aid for single mothers is available from many higher education institutions through programs that will help you decide the best course of action as well as providing funding to follow your dreams.

For today’s video, I’ve posted one that deals with finding college aid.

One of the best ways for a single mom to improve her life in the long term, for both her and her children, is by furthering her education. This will give her a new skill set or complete an existing one which will lead to getting higher paying jobs. Therefore single mom scholarships can be an invaluable aid in moving forward. Care should be taken though as there are many fake programs run by scammers trying to take advantage of anyone they can.

Scamming is not a new profession by any means, and scammers are completely unscrupulous in who they target, even if it is through a program for single mom scholarships. They rely on the desperation of many single parents and exploit it to get what they want. This article will look at some signs that should make you turn and run if you want to avoid being a scam victim.

First and foremost, you should not have to pay a fee to search for scholarship programs or to apply, since there are free services you can use to the same effect. In any case, all these programs have their own websites where you can apply at no charge and contain all the information you could possibly need. It is also vital than you never give out your credit card or bank account information, no matter how convincing the person on the other end of the phone may sound. There is no reason a scholarship program would need your bank information.

A guaranteed scholarship and you don’t have to do anything to get it? Sounds like a dream. Well, it is because unless they are the scholarship judges, no one can guarantee that you will get the scholarship. Plus, you still have to fill out the application; no one can do that for you.

Another method they use is to try and pressure you into applying for a scholarship. No legitimate program offering single mother scholarships will every pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do, and they will definitely not ask you for money to do so.

You should also be wary of smooth talkers who sound overly official and deftly skirt directly answering any of your questions. Before you believe anything you are told, make sure you verify their legitimacy with a reputable institution or school. If you can’t get straight answers about what will be done with your information or about their contact details, then you should definitely choose a different sponsor.

The most important piece of advice though is to check with your local college or university as well as official institutions to see if the company is legitimate or not. They will be able to provide you the most accurate information to help you keep your money where it belongs. In your pocket.

You can watch this video for a bit of an introduction to some of the legit single mom scholarship programs:

Education grants for single mothers are put in place with a single purpose of helping you, the single parent. The money is there to help you get back into a very competitive area and create a better future for you and your child. Education is something that a lot of single parents forget about when the responsibilities of caring for a child kick in. Many of your financial problems can be eventually solved by gaining a more solid and respectable educational background.

Do not forget that there are many ways back into the education system. A successful college or university course will leave you with better qualifications, which will increase your chances of earning more money. Financial worries can become a thing of the past, as you will be able to apply for better jobs and start bringing in more money.

This article will take a look at a few of the options that are available to you. Always remember that education is a highly competitive and there will be a lot of people like you who are intent on making a better world for themselves. You need to be ready to put in a lot of time and effort because you will need snap up a grant over night. Applications take a long time and any rejections need to be addressed as you go.

Institutional scholarships and grants are a highly attractive proposition. They will often be for a much larger sum of money than other grants that are available. Commonly they will cover the costs of an entire program, course or degree, which could run into the thousands. You will often be asked for evidence of your educational history and your income in order to qualify for these but it is senseless not to approach the institution where you want to study.

Applications for these scholarships take a very long time. They will require a very specific set of documents to be produced on your part. However, do not feel down at the prospect of this. Schools and colleges will employ people to help you with the application procedure and make sure you are not wasting your time by applying for the wrong grant.

Another angle you could look at is applying for a Federal Pell Grant. These are not for as much money but they are a little easier to obtain and are widely available. They are given to the people in the lowest income, which you as a single mother will probably be. Remember that because the grant is so popular, you will have to do something that will make you stand out from everyone else, this can simply be done through a professional approach to presenting your evidence and documents.

Educational grants for single mothers are a ticket to a better future. By spending a long time with a professional or by yourself, filling out dozens of applications you could get a deal that will make a lot of your stress evaporate into thin air.

A lot of single mothers do not have the time to spend researching what financial aid is available to them. Federal aid for single mothers is a huge area and there are a variety of packages that can improve the every day life of the average mother in the home. Mothers may be single for a variety of reasons but the financial strain that is placed on the individual can be eased and the burdens released.

The main problem for a single mother will be the worry of finding the right balance between work and looking after the children. On the one hand the most important stages of maternal bonding will happen when the child is very young. On the other hand this bonding will not happen if a roof cannot be put overhead and food cannot be put on the table. The balance is a hard one to get right and that is why it’s important that single moms are aware of the help on offer to them.

Single mothers will have financial pressure in a number of areas such as paying for food, paying for utility bills, paying rent and many more. There are wide choices of financial aid packages that will not create stress. Financial aid such as grants do not need to be paid back and mean that you will have to work less and can focus that attention in other areas.

It may be the case in some instances that you are looking to further your education in order to pursue a more high profile career once your child has grown up. A variety of institutions will offer grants and scholarships that will be funded entirely by them. However, college funded money will rely on you having a decent level of education yourself. It is also very important that you act professionally at all times because specific documents and evidence may be asked for.

The only problem with grants is that the amount of money that you will be able to access will be substantially lower than if you get a loan. Loans are a great way of accessing a lot of money quickly and a Federal Aid First loan could be the ideal package. These loans will offer a great deal of money but at a low rate. This will allow you to get back into the educational system and have a little bit of cash left over to pay for other things.

There are specific organisations all over the country that are run and funded by the government, to help you, the single mother. There is almost a financial aid package that will fit any circumstances and while you may have an idea of what’s on offer, talking to state support for single mothers will be a lot more comprehensive.

Federal aid for single mothers is a huge area but it does not need to seem daunting. It is important to remember that all grants and loans will work on the criteria of the child being first and helping you to ease the stress of this every day responsibility.
